What to expect

Enjoy a tour to Filerimos hill from Rhodes! You will have the chance to start your tour at the Archaeological site on the left or take a stroll on the right footway while enjoying the breathtaking panoramic view of Ialyssos. Whichever you choose, you'll be serenaded by the peacocks' mating calls throughout your journey.

You'll have the opportunity to explore the remains of the ancient acropolis of Ialyssos and visit the monastery of Our Lady, which is one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes Island. As you walk along the "Golgotha," a tree-sheltered pathway with several shrines depicting scenes of the Holy Passion, you'll get to witness the enormous imposing cross at the end, offering a spectacular view of the surrounding villages and lush green valleys.

After leaving Filerimos Hill, your next stop is the Valley of Butterflies, one of the island's most alluring destinations (with a 2-hour stay). The Pelekanos River canyon hosts a unique valley named after the Panaxia Quadripunctaria Butterfly. This valley was discovered in the 1930s by Italians who created a stunning 1 km path that meanders through the canyon, leading to areas, where the butterflies are densely populated.

Lovely day the stop at Filerimos is breathtaking, the monastery is 10 euros to get in but is well worth it is beautiful. The toilets are just inside the monastery gate on the right and are free to visit just leave the lady a tip. The valley of the butterflies is stunning but put on decent shoes. The top half was a lot busier than the bottom half but there were more butterflies in the top half. We even saw a crab climbing a tree and a turtle. The cafe at the bottom the food was delicious.

Paid out nearly €50 euros in total to get to the butterfly valley after nearly an hour on the coach only to be told after paying to get in that there was no butterflies for another two weeks. At no point where we told this, in fact the tui rep even said there would be plenty of butterflies there at this time. Felt like a bit of a waste of money and a wasted trip when if we knew this beforehand we could have used our time and money on something more worthwhile, felt like a bit of a scam.

Transport and driver was spot on really lovely man. We loved where we went however it would of been good to know the church was closed at FILERIMOS hill which meant no toilets and there was no butterfly’s in the butterfly garden due to the time of year
