  • Fuengirola market – the biggest on the Costa del Sol
  • Whitewashed hillside village of Mijas
  • Great shopping for local products and souvenirs
What to expect

There's no better way to mingle with the locals and immerse yourself in their way of life than a trip to the market. On this half-day excursion, you'll visit the Fuengirola market and then make the short trip to the whitewashed village of Mijas for some free time exploring its pretty streets.

First up, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in Fuengirola's thriving market – the largest on the Costa del Sol. Watch as locals study the wares while cracking jokes and swapping stories with the stallholders. It's a great spot for picking up souvenirs, local fashions and fresh produce.

Then, it's off inland to Mijas – a charming village in the hills above Fuengirola with great coastal views. If you fancy more shopping, here you'll find all sorts of local products, including leather goods and Andalusian ceramics. There's also plenty to see here, such as the chapel in the rocks, the famous donkey-taxis, a chocolate factory and several museums.

Just the right length of trip, just enough time in the market because it was very hot. More leisurely in Midas giving us time for a drink and snack.
