Qué te espera

Un día lleno de acción en el que toda la familia podrá disfrutar de la esencia de Creta. Descubra la mitología griega mientras explora pintorescos senderos de montaña en una aventura todoterreno que le llevará a la meseta de Lassithi. También podrá probar a hacer cerámica y visitar el Parque Mitológico. Katerina, una de nuestras expertas guías locales, afirma entusiasmada: "La meseta de Lassithi es uno de los lugares favoritos de esta excursión. Le recibirá la vista de docenas de molinos de viento que salpican el paisaje. Se construyeron en el siglo XIX para moler el grano y ahora son un símbolo de la región".

Emprenderemos un sendero que asciende por las montañas para llegar a la primera parada en la presa de Aposelimi. Desde aquí nos dirigiremos a un mirador desde donde se divisa la meseta de Lassithi, una llanura alta y fértil que, según la leyenda, fue el lugar de nacimiento de Zeus.

Al descender a la meseta, nos dirigiremos a un taller de cerámica y a un productor de aceite de oliva. Es una parada divertida para los niños, que tendrán tiempo de sobra para hacer sus propias creaciones de cerámica. A continuación, visitaremos el Parque Mitológico, donde descubrirá todo sobre los antiguos mitos griegos. La iluminación especial y los efectos sonoros, junto con el audioguía, hacen que el parque sea agradable para todas las edades. Termine el día con un almuerzo tardío en una taberna, antes de hacer una parada en el pueblo de Krassi, famoso por un plátano de 2.000 años de antigüedad y por su manantial de agua natural.

Trip erg leuk, geen kinderzitje in auto dus veiligheid voor kinderen is minder. Stops erg mooi qua uitzicht, uitleg van gids michaelis B. erg leuk! Redelijk opdringerige verkoop op de locaties waar je stopt, bij de proeverij krijg je raki, olijfolie en honing te proeven welke erg lekker zijn (maar wel graag kopen!) bij de keramiek workshop ben je in 5 minuten klaar met kleien, verder bijna een uur verkopers van je af zien te houden… eten in de taverna erg lekker!

This trip was guided by local driver Stavros who was excellent at engaging and entertaining my 7 year old for the duration - they were best pals by the end - and had lots of local knowledge, and “survival tips” for the mountains. The visit to the Olive Factory, drive up the mountains, farm visit and local Cretan lunch were all fun and informative. The Mythological Park really peaked the interest of my son and is definitely worth a visit. We would definitely do this tour again.

Our tour guide Niko made this a very enjoyable trip. He had lots of experience of driving up these mountains. The mythological park was very interesting. We then had a super lunch at a taverna in a village down the mountain. So much delicious food and wine.

Dmitri from Tui was amazing in recommending this trip which was our favourite of the holiday even though all our trips were fantastic. This was amazing. Chris our guide and driver from Safari club 4x4 was so knowledgeable and experienced and great to be in Socrates Land Rover and meet Maria the goat and taste feta cheese and see how it’s made and go visit traditional Cretan villages in the mountains. Do not miss this trip!

Nat Geo Day Tour: Discover Cretan Farm Life

Small-scale, family-run farms are integral to the Mediterranean diet that Crete is so famous for. A local family will welcome you to their Mitato, a small farmhouse, where you'll be greeted with the genuine warmth of Cretan hospitality. Western Crete tour with Agia Triada Monastery and Chania

This tour takes in the historic Agia Triada Monastery, a guided tour of Chania and time to unwind at Crete's only natural lake. Angeliki, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Agia Triada offers a glimpse into Crete's rich cultural heritage. It was built during the Venetian period and boasts an impressive array of frescoes and religious artefacts. The monastery is an oasis of tranquillity, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.'After exploring the monastery, you'll head up to the Hill of Prophet Elias, also known as Profitis Ilias, to soak up the insta-worthy views here. Then, you'll continue to Chania, one of Crete's most appealing port towns. Steeped in history and renowned for its atmospheric Venetian harbour, you'll explore its narrow streets on a guided tour. Full-day Crete wine-tasting and 4x4 off-road tour

This full-day guided tour is all about getting to grips with a few of Crete's most popular local products, olive oil and wine. You'll learn how both are made, and you'll get to sample some for yourself, all while travelling between stops in the back of a 4x4. Ioannis, one of our expert local guides says “in my opinion, there's no better way to understand the culture of a destination than by meeting the people who make local produce. They know the area better than anyone, and the produce is a reflection of the culture.”You'll kick things off at the Terra Creta Olive Mill. Here, you'll see how olives are turned into oil before a tasting session. Then, you'll be welcomed into a boutique winery for a tour of the grounds and, of course, to sample the wines produced here. You'll learn about the different grape varieties, including some experimental wines made from rare grapes. Next, you'll continue to the village of Ano Vouves, home to an ancient olive tree – it's thought to be between 2,000 and 4,000 years old, but it still produces olives to this day.Afterwards, you'll set off on an off-road adventure in a 4x4 towards the mountain village of Sebronas. As you zoom through the gorge, you'll see pretty chapels, vineyards and olive groves – and you'll have time to snap a few photos along the way. Then, once you've worked up your appetite, you'll stop for lunch at a small village tavern, where you'll tuck into some traditional dishes.
