In the heart of Manhattan, land for development is scarce. Yet ingenious urban planning has created a new city within the city by building over a working rail yard. The 28-acre Hudson Yards neighborhood has reshaped the New York skyline and created housing, commercial spaces, and public amenities including a hotel, dining spaces, shops and an arts venue. Designed by world-class architects, Hudson Yards is a testament to innovation, awarded the title of New York's first LEED gold-certified neighborhood, emphasizing the commitment to sustainability at the project’s core.
You will get an up-close look at the engineering prowess behind Hudson Yards and meet with the building's chief engineer and his team, the mastermind behind the development, construction, and maintenance of this monumental project. With exclusive access to behind-the-scenes locations and unseen views over the city, you’ll get a fresh perspective on this new urban zone and explore how the site remains carbon-neutral. Comprising 13 structures, with plans for three more, the neighborhood has also expanded the subway system and connected the popular High Line to Midtown.
Led by your engineer guide, you’ll tour one of NYC's newest buildings with exclusive visits to a section of the main building's roof and its engineering core, neither of which is accessible to the general public. Your tour includes access to the tuned mass damper, which weighs 1.5 million tons and keeps the building stable. You’ll finish the tour with a farm-to-table lunch in the panoramic restaurant.
