Why you’ll love this…
  • This day trip to Gibraltar is where British culture meets the Andalusian climate
  • You'll visit St Michael's Cave during a guided minibus tour of the Rock of Gibraltar
  • The wild Barbary apes who hang out in the Upper Rock will make for some fun snaps
  • You can take in monuments and mosques at Europa Point and go duty-free shopping on Main Street
  • It's the best way to explore Gibraltar – with a local guide who knows the intricacies of its culture
What to expect

An exotic blend of the familiar and the unusual, Gibraltar is a must-visit. This tour ticks off all its top attractions – the Barbary apes of the Rock, St Michael's Caves and the Main Street. Rosa, one of our local guides, says: "Gibraltar is one of the most unexpected culture shocks I've ever encountered. It feels like my native Andalusia, but everything looks British. Wandering around, listening to the locals chat in their cute dialect is always a joy."

The fun kicks off on a high with a guided tour of the Rock of Gibraltar. Towering 426 metres above the Med, its steep slopes look daunting – but you'll be discovering it from the comfort of a minibus. The first stop is packed-with-monuments Europa Point, a popular spot for taking snaps. At the Upper Rock nature reserve, you'll meet the free-roaming Barbary apes – Europe's only wild monkeys. On a clear day, you can see all the way across to Africa. Next up is St Michael's Cave. Once home to Neanderthals and used as a war hospital during World War II, they're now an atmospheric concert hall.

Back at ground level, Gibraltar's town centre has a distinctly British feel to it, whether it's the more obvious red phone and post boxes or the more succinct ones such as arched Georgian door frames. Tuck into a pie or maybe some fish and chips for lunch, before some retail therapy. Main Street, where many of the British high street chains have outlets, is famed for its duty-free shops.

Trip inc see Apes. After told no food, hats, glasses & phones by apes only saw them at St Micheal’ s cave, 2 sitting top of cars , 1 on a fence & 1 in a tree from bus. I was surprise when after were taken back to town I asked why we didn’t go further up rock to see apes? told don’t do this if u see them at cave.this should have been explained to me before I booked . Felt only out to make money as trip to rock rushed needed more time (20) in cave as spectacular. Less time for shops

The trip was very rushed, had to wait 30 minutes on the mini bus going up to the caves and monkeys which meant we literally only had 20 minutes in the cave and just had time to get off the bus take a photo of the monkeys and get back on the bus to go to the town, would have liked more time here. We were late going back for the people that were also doing the dolphin watch because of the delay at the beginning.

Poor guide. Tour was multi language and should have been in English and that caused a problem. Disorganised transfer from coach to mini bus nobody seemed to know what they were doing so a lot of time wasted. Tour to the rock mini bus driver seemed to be in a race. Insufficient time at points of interest i.e. minutes here and minutes there. Everything was rushed. No directions given in terms of meeting points. Worst excursion ever experienced with TUI.

Gibraltar was very interesting and well worth a visit. The down side was the journey. Information supplied on the details of the trip was to allow at least 8 hours but we were picked up at 7.00am and were not dropped off until 7.00 pm! 12 hours for approximately 5 hrs in Gibraltar was far to long a long a day from our hotel. This was not due to traffic problems, there were far to many pick stops, at least 12 from different towns of the main road. I would suggest smaller coaches are used in futur
