  • There are a bunch of activities for kids to get stuck in to at Dinosaurland

  • This trip is led by an expert local guide who knows Majorca and its history like the back of their hand
What to expect

As family outings in Majorca go, it's hard to beat this double-header to the Hams Caves and Dinosaurland. It's a spine-tingling journey into the island's pre-history, where Genesis and Titanosaur will leave you open-mouthed. Marga, one of our local guides, says, "this tour really captures the imagination as you go from one of Majorca's oldest attractions, the 10-million-year-old Hams Caves, to one of the newest, the recently opened Dinosaurland."

The Hams Caves may be millions of years old, but they were discovered only last century. And since then, they've become one of the island's top attractions. As you explore the three main caves, you'll learn about the island's original inhabitants. The semi-open Round Cave, with its botanical vegetation, has a Jurassic feel to it – and whets your appetite for what's inside. In the Blue Cave, an audiovisual timelapse documentary called Genesis recounts the history of Majorca from the Big Bang to today. And the Classic Cave, which is a network of 12 chambers, is full of mystery. There's also a soothing Venetian-inspired music show.

The mild gives way to the wild at Dinosaurland, where you'll walk among the more than 100 life-sized recreations of dinosaurs, including the mythical Titanosaurus, at more than 50 metres long. Some consider it to have been the largest species. The kids can also play at being palaeontologists, enjoy games and puzzles or try their hand at drawing. A great day out for the whole family.

Very good experience , the kids loved it . The dinosaurs were very well presented with the likeness , sounds and animation . The cave experience was good but a little too quick . It was hard to hear the information coming from the speakers , I think it would work better if a person was there to narrate and give the information

Our tour guide was late and because of this everything was a rush. She got cross with us for stopping to take a family photo.

The coach trip was over an hour to get there with all the pick ups and it should have been under 20 minutes to get there from our hotel. Would definitely have considered a taxi there and back instead. Once we arrived we did not have much time to get round the attractions before the coach left. We arrived at 11:30 and the coach left at 2pm. We didn’t even have time to stop for a drink or some food. Would suggest a bit of extra time is allocated for this. It did feel a bit rushed.

Would definitely recommend the Caves (beware - there are a lot of steps!). If you have seen other Dinosaur sites, this one may not interest you but the life size Models are good and there is some useful information on each Dinosaur - Kids should enjoy it.
