Beschreibung

In diesem Teil des Taurusgebirges in Antalya vereinen sich die Ingenieurskunst und die Gaben der Natur zum Green Canyon. Der Manavgat-Fluss hat den Canyon über Jahrtausende hinweg langsam geformt, doch erst der 1988 fertiggestellte Oymapınar-Staudamm überflutete ihn und schuf den See, an dem Sie entlangfahren werden. Emir, unser ortskundiger Tourguide erklärt: „Das Gebiet steht unter Naturschutz, damit Tiere und Pflanzen gedeihen können. Sie können Ihren Teil dazu beitragen, indem Sie einen Baum pflanzen und so den Wald erhalten.“

Sie beginnen dieses halbtägige Abenteuer mit einer malerischen Allradfahrt durch die Berge zum Canyon. Unterwegs erfahren Sie von Ihrem lokalen Tourguide Wissenswertes über die Gegend und können Ihren ganz persönlichen Beitrag zum Umweltschutz leisten. Indem Sie in der Erde graben und einen Baum pflanzen, unterstützen Sie eines der vielen Wiederaufforstungsprojekte, die dafür sorgen, dass der Green Canyon seinem Namen gerecht wird und die natürliche Schönheit der Region bewahrt wird.

Anschließend klopfen Sie sich die Erde von den Händen und machen sich bereit für einen deutlich entspannteren Teil Ihrer Tour. Sie unternehmen eine Bootsfahrt entlang des Green Canyon und legen sogar für ein Schwimmstopp an. Während das smaragdgrüne Wasser dem Ufer weicht, blicken Sie nach oben und folgen Sie den hoch aufragenden Felsen mit stacheligen grünen Kiefern, Zedern und wilden Blumen, die sich daran festklammern. The star attractions of this full day excursion are shopping, riverside dining and a beautiful, wild canyon. You'll take a canyon boat trip and stop for a swim at Oymapinar Dam Lake. Narin, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Oymapinar Dam Lake is one of the largest reservoirs in Turkey, covering an area of approximately 19 square kilometres. The lake is fed by the Manavgat River, which flows south from the Taurus Mountains and eventually empties into the Mediterranean Sea at Side.' Your tour starts with a spot of shopping at Dickman Textile Centre. If fashion is your thing, then you're in luck as you can enjoy a stress-free browse for clothing and accessories from leading brands. Next, we'll head to a riverside restaurant for a freshly prepared meal made with locally sourced ingredients. Afterwards it's all aboard, ready for a cruise down the canyon waterway. Green Canyon cruise and 4x4 tour with tree-planting

Man-made engineering and Mother Nature's talents combine in this pocket of Antalya's Taurus Mountains to give us the Green Canyon. While the Manavgat River had been slowly carving the canyon for millennia, it was the Oymapınar Dam, finished in 1988, that flooded it and created the lake you'll be cruising along. Emir, a local guide, says, “the area's been given a protected status to allow animals and plants to thrive and you'll get to play your part as you plant a tree to support the forest.” You'll start this half-day adventure with a scenic 4x4 ride that takes you through the mountains towards the canyon. On the way, you'll hear about the area from your expert guide and get ready to make your own special contribution to the environment here. As you dig into the soil and plant a tree, you'll be supporting one of many reforestation projects aimed at keeping the Green Canyon living up to its name and preserving the area's natural beauty. Next, dust the soil from your hands and get ready to cast off for an altogether more relaxing part of your tour. You'll take a cruise along the Green Canyon and even stop for a dip. As the emerald waters give way to the shoreline, cast your eyes up to follow the towering rocks with spiky green pines, cedars and determined wildflowers clinging to them. The mix of forests and freshwater has attracted migratory birds and even endangered species like the fish owl – your guide will help keep an eye out for any interesting wildlife spots.
